What:
Every person has the right to make choices about their own life, from small daily decisions to big life changes. But how do we practically support someone to make their own decisions, especially when they face barriers to understanding or don't use words to communicate?
Together, we will look at how to move away from making choices for people, and instead learn how to truly listen and support them to lead their own lives. Decisions like:

Who to live with
How we want our lives to look
We will explore the legal rules in Nova Scotia, share practical tools, and talk about how to build a culture of respect and genuine choices.

Understanding Nova Scotia’s Legal Rules: A clear, simple look at our provincial decision-making laws and what they mean for your everyday support.
Moving to Person-Directed Support: Shifting our daily focus so that the person is truly in the driver's seat of their own life.
Person-Directed Communication: Finding ways to listen to what a person is really telling us, through their words, actions, sounds, gestures, or expressions.
Supporting Decision-Making: Real, practical ways to help someone make decisions, even if they face big challenges with understanding or communication.
